New Delhi/Dehradun Aug10, 2018– Mr Dhan Singh Rawat , State minister for Higher Education, Uttarkhand has urged central government to release more funds for education in the country as due to lack of funds education institutes are suffering the country with shortage of faculty and facilities.
Mr Dhan Singh Rawat , Minister of Higher Education , Uttarakhand Government while inaugurating a Two day World Education Summit organised by elets, an NGO here said” Due to shortage of funds in education most of the higher education institutes in the state are facing faculty shortage and lacking quality education. The state government has recruited 100 per cent teachers through state public service commission which has resulted in higher attendance by students in the state. The attendance increased to more than 70 % from 47 % within days”
“Uttarakhand government In a bid to move towards improving the higher education scenario in the state, many steps are being taken, a toll-free number and a Samadhan portal has been launched which is being used by all stakeholders – students as well as college and university representatives — to reach out to the higher education directorate/department in order to have their issues addressed speedily.” Said Mr rawat
He added that attendance of students in govt degree colleges has increased as it was keenly being watched and letters apprising parents of all those students with less attendance were sent. Principals were made responsible for ensuring better attendance. 180 days of academic learning has been made compulsory. 5 hours teaching with biometric attendance for professors is also being insisted upon.: he added.
“Colleges who have not already adopted the dress code even during convocations. The government will also be trying that more institutions in the state get NAAC accreditation. All colleges now have principals, the dearth of 10 lakh books has been met, pending work of building construction/repair in 26 degree colleges will be done in the next 1.5 years.” He said.
“When we talk of higher education we are talking about the future of the state and the nation. Our professors and teachers are capable and qualified enough to impart world class education if given the chance and facilities. I can see zeal in our teachers”, the minister said .
“Uttarakhand government is planning to organise a Two day National educational Summit titled “GIAN KUMBH’ onSeptember 22-23, 2018 in Haridwar, where all education minster’s from 29 states and all directors of IIT’s and vice chancellors of all universities are expected to participate. The summit is expected to be inaugurated by President of India” said Mr Rawat.
