Dehradun 18 July, 2018-In pursuance of orders of honorable court, the exercise of demolition, identification of illegal encroachments and illegal constructions on footpaths, lanes, roads and other places and sealing of illegal encroachments in Dehradun city by Mussoorie- Dehradun Development Authority, Municipal Corporation, Dehradun and district administration has been going on.
Under the anti-encroachment drive on Wednesday, 280 illegal encroachments were demolished and 185 illegal encroachments were identified. Till date, a total of 2196 illegal encroachments have been demolished, 4674 illegal encroachments have been identified and 88 buildings sealed during the anti-encroachment drive.
Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash reviewed the campaign to remove encroachments, identification of encroachments, sealing of buildings and further action with anti-encroachment task force officials at a meeting held at Women Industrial Training Institute, RDT Auditorium at Survey Chowk on Wednesday.
Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash said that five officers who were inducted into anti-encroachment task force yesterday are working with the force. He said that drive to remove encroachments from public roads would be speeded up.
Om Prakash said that as per the orders of the Supreme court, illegal encroachments from gated colonies will also be removed. He said that if the residents of gated colonies want to put their point view in this regard they can go to High Court / Supreme court.
Om Prakash said that if in the houses situated in the areas of Nehru Colony and Indira Nagar which were developed by Uttar Pradesh Housing Development Board, comes under the purview of encroachment, action will be taken against those as per the rules. A letter to take action to remove these illegal encroachments has been sent to Commissioner, Uttar Pradesh Housing Development Board, Lucknow. Ramesh Chander, junior engineer who had come from Saharanpur inspected these colonies, today. He said that he has not yet received any directions to remove illegal encroachments from these colonies but on receipt of such directions, action will be taken immediately.
Asish Shrivastava, Chief of anti-encroachment task force/Vice-Chairman ,MDDA said that as per the demand of the Uttar Pradesh Housing Development Board, the task force will provide all necessary facilities to remove encroachments from the area. District Magistrate S.A. Murugesan, Secretary MDDA P. C. Dumka, Under Secretary Dinesh Kumar Punetha and other officers associated with anti-encroachment drive were present in the meeting.
